 New Qualifications Available**

1. The National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches. There are 16 Hours of Training required for this course.

2. The Aquatic Therapy Shallow Pool Rescue Award.This is a supervision and rescue qualification for therapists, teachers, and support staff working on the poolside or in the water during activities such as aquatic therapy or therapeutic exercise/play.

 3. The Open Water Lifeguard Module is for Fully Qualified National Pool Lifeguards’ and allows them to perform Lifeguard Duties at Open Water Sites but not Coastal Sites.

 4. First Aid at Work is a three day course. It is the UK equivalent of the First Aid Responder Course in Ireland.

This qualification is included in every Pool Lifeguard Course

that is run by the Club.

5. Emergency Response : Swimming Pools.

Paragraph 193 of the HSE publication “Managing Health and Safety in Swimming Pools” states – Whenever the pool is in use, a member of staff will need to be designated as “on call” to respond immediately to the alarm and deal with any emergency. It is essential that such staff are trained in pool rescue, CPR techniques and first aid. The Emergency Response Pool qualification is designed to assist operators to meet these requirements.
